Intermediate to Senior Cycling Consultant

Country Location: Auckland, New Zealand

About this role

We are seeking an enthusiastic cycling consultant/planner to join our team in Auckland, and be an integral part of our growth as we seek to make a difference to the cities and communities around us. Based in our vibrant O'Connell Street office, you will assist on projects both locally and throughout New Zealand and Australia. 

With at least three years' professional experience, you are someone who revels in the chance to apply your technical capabilities and powers of critical reasoning to help us shape a better world. As member of our consultant team, you will be involved in all aspects of our business and your responsibilities will include business development, marketing, bid preparation and project management. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with your skills and experience. About You

You are a transport professional who is looking to take the next big step in their career.   • You'll need at least three years' professional experience in cycle infrastructure planning and design. This includes:
    • cycle infrastructure design,
    • transport/land use integration,
    • cycle design guidelines,
    • and neighbourhood design.;
  • Previous experience in a consultancy environment, especially in the Auckland market, will be well regarded.
  • You will hold tertiary qualifications in an appropriate technical field, which might be engineering, urban/town planning, landscape architecture or something else we haven't thought of yet.
  • You will be a technologically savvy person with core skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Trimble SketchUP, and AutoCAD. We like people with extra skills, so if you have them, tell us about them.
  • You'll be expected to assist on projects throughout New Zealand and Australia, and possibly internationally. This may require occasional business travel. Having the ability to travel and work freely in Australia and New Zealand will be well regarded.
  • You'll have to work collaboratively and collegiately; with our staff, our project partners and our clients.
  • And finally, you will most definitely need to be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally. This one's important.

Senior or Principal Public Transport Planner

About you

You are a public transport professional who is looking to take the next step in their career. Maybe you want to break away from the stifling environment of a large international consultancy, or maybe you're looking to step outside of the confines of the public sector; no matter what your background, we offer opportunities and flexibility that few of our competitors can match. But first, you will have to meet this list of basic criteria. We know it's long, but we value our current team and it is really important to us that we hire the right person to join us.

  • You'll need at least three years' professional experience in passenger transit planning. This includes:
    • Network planning, understanding the ridership versus coverage trade-offs;
    • Public transport infrastructure design; 
    • Operational planning, including timetabling and scheduling; and/or
    • Fares policy and ticketing systems.
  • Previous experience in a consultancy environment, especially in the Auckland market, will be well regarded. 
  • If you haven't worked in a consulting role before, that's ok as long as you are aware of how consulting works: being dedicated to producing quality outcomes for our clients, within budget and project timeframes.
  • You will hold tertiary qualifications in an appropriate technical field, which might be engineering, urban/town planning, geography or something else we haven't thought of yet.
  • You might be a technologically savvy person with added skills in the areas of data analysis, spatial analysis (GIS), transport modelling or graphic design. We like people with extra skills, so if you have them, tell us about them.
  • You'll be expected to assist on projects throughout New Zealand and Australia, and possibly internationally. This may require occasional business travel. Having the ability to travel and work freely in Australia and New Zealand will be well regarded.

Senior Traffic Engineer

Country Location: Brisbane

About this role

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer with a civil engineering degree to work in our Traffic Engineering Practice.  Based in our Milton office, you will lead and assist with assignments both locally and throughout Australia and New Zealand. As a senior member of the Traffic Engineering Practice you will be involved in all aspects of our consultancy business. Your prime responsibilities will include preparation of technical reports and technical memorandums, presentation to clients, drafting fee proposals, project management including cost control, and assisting with client relationship management. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with your skills and experience.  

About You

You are a Traffic Engineer who is looking to take the next step in your career. Maybe you want to break away from the stifling environment of a large international consultancy, maybe you want to work on a more diverse range of assignments across Australia and New Zealand or maybe you are looking to step outside of the confines of the public sector. No matter your background, we offer opportunities and flexibility that few of our competitors can match. You will be required to demonstrate your technical experience and leadership capability in traffic engineering across traffic impact assessments, road safety initiatives, active transport and traffic management schemes. We value our current team and it is really important to us that we hire the right person to join us. Accordingly, you will need to demonstrate how you satisfy the following selection criteria:

  • Bachelor in Civil Engineering (or equivalent);
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering;
  • Attained, or eligible to attain within 6 months, accreditation as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ);
  • A strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Austroads Guidelines and Codes of Practice and principles for Roads and Traffic Engineering.  Experience in road safety would be advantageous;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills;
  • Extensive experience using SIDRA and MS products (Excel, Word, PPT).  Experience with strategic and/or simulation modelling software will be advantageous;
  • A sound understanding of current issues, requirements and markets in the roads and transportation/traffic engineering sector; and
  • An established network of government and industry contacts would be advantageous.
